Solitude Peak 10,550′ Banana Chute 5/7/2017 Storm Skiing

Today was pretty cool. It wasn’t a big day by any means. It was however another trip into mirrorland. A place where things are similar to home but also noticeably different. This mountain rises above the town of Mammoth Lakes and reminds me of J Chute on Mt Victoria. I headed up after some coffee and made decent time through the trees and into the clouds. The up on this route is easier than the Mt Royal Trail. The weather had me guessing whether or not I was in the right place but the map app did it’s job on this great low hanging fruit. Speaking of flora the trees look like frozen little broccoli. The spacing was sublime as was the snow. Pretty damn light for California.
