So I headed to the city to pick up the boys on Saturday. Running late as always we finally headed up the hill. They reminded me that F8 of the Furious was playing so we went and saw the matinee in Dillon. Perhaps a questionable choice for a 13 and 9 year old but it does have a message of being true to your family. After the show we picked up the forgotten rope and swimsuit and headed for Cottonwood for soaking and camping. The fire was too brief and with chilly temps the kids went to bed.
The next morning Wilson had his first cup of coffee and demolished his oatmeal. Calvin crushed his breakfast too and we broke down camp. Off to the Trailhead to get the boys a new harness. Then we made our way to the crag. I was amazed at how much fun the kids had. They just crushed it 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 in sneakers. Wilson was like a little monkey and figured out his first overhang. He climbed the most routes. Calvin climbed all the routes and did his first rappel. Congrats buddy on facing your fears and taking the “leap” of faith. The autoblock and belay helped, but now you understand how it all works. Learning how to do something while maintaining safety is an important lesson.
Love you guys so much and can’t wait for our next adventures. By the way the climbing photos are all taken by the boys.
