After taking a day off to rest my bones after Humboldt I camped up at Maysville after the Salida Mountain Sports show. With a southern exposure I was stoked to sleep in a little. I’ve been having a tough time getting used to life in the truck again, or at least the cold mornings. After coffee I made my way up to the trailhead and gear up for a solo. The road to the base of the couloir went by quickly thanks to spacing out to some tunes. From the base I was able to skin most of the way up the line. I switched to booting near the top and found a nice boot pack that I mostly used. 2:50 up, a bit of lounging on the summit and 4:00 round trip. I guess I’m getting fitter.
The ski was perfect corn and I wish the mount for my GoPro hadn’t failed on the new helmet. Stupid adhesion issues. It was as good as I always thought it would be. Back in the mid-90s me and my old friend Jack Hannan schemed a descent of this line but then I got hurt and we never got around to it. This one was for you old friend.
