La Grave 3/4/2013 An Unexpected Day of Awesomeness

So after skiing La Rouya we had a nice picnic at the car and packed everything up. We “meandered” along the road, at like 150 kph and headed over towards Grenoble. The plan was to ski Chamonix and that route was way cheaper than taking the Sestriere tunnel. It would also allow us to have beers in La Grave with my friend Joe Vallone. The drive over from Briancon to La Grave was awesome. So much terrain back there. The structure of the mountains to the north of the road reminded me of the San Juans. The peaks to the south were straight up France. So we get to La Grave and Joe is adamant that we need to¬† ski La Grave. Thank you so much for the couch and dinner.

In the morning we had a good breakfast and headed up the hill. Joe had us shadow his group into a sweet couloir. The terrain in La Grave is awesome. Looking forward to going back for more. Thanks for showing us your mountain Joe. Check out his website http://provallone.com/ and let him show you around. Until next time.
