Coon Hill 12,757′ North Face and East Face 4/1/2012

Published by at 11:18 AM under 12ers,Colorado,Skiing Trip Reports

Well after 3656 miles and 943 songs on the Ipod the trip has come to an end. I had planned on skiing Saturday in Utah but with no partner, no sleep, no knowledge of the snowpack and very warm temps I figured that was a bad idea. I slept at a rest area on the road and woke up to a beautiful sunrise somewhere in Idaho. I made the drive back to Colorado a leisurely one and soaked in Glenwood Springs. I still wanted to ski the last day of the trip so I contacted Gary Fondl who always seems to be ready to throw down for some fun. He’d been up Coon Hill recently and knew it held the goods so off we went.

We hit the East Face for some steep corn first then climbed back up for some north facing shots. Ended up with 3100′ vert for the day. It was good to ski the skis I’m testing on some steeps before heading to Europe for 3 weeks. Gary a pleasure as always. Looking forward to getting out with you more when I get back. Enjoy the pics. Probably one more tour before Europe.

Really there's stuff to ski up there?
