After a nice tour up Mt Glory I got on the road to Washington. It looked like there was a big series of storms heading for Mt Baker and after the season we’d been having in Colorado. I needed some snow, like most people need water or air. 982 miles later I had reached my destination. I first rolled into Mt Vernon at about 1am and soon realized that all the hotels from there to Vancouver were booked. So I drove up the Mt Baker highway and found a trailhead. So tired. I woke up to new snow and headed to the mountain. This was my first visit tot he land of snowy spines. They’ve been having an epic year and 8 inches of new was on the plate for the first day along with about 6″ during the day. It was good skiing soft snow.It was also nice to get free refills.
The next day I hooked up with Mike Hardaker from Mountain Weekly News. He showed me some cool zones and we enjoyed a stormy day with 8 more new and about 10″ throughout the day. Thanks for showing me around.
The last day was just a halfer as I needed to start making my way back to Colorado. Besides it seemed the word was out as there were a lot more people there on Friday. Most of the 8″ of new goods were skied off by noon. It must be said that Glacier Ski Shop has a very gifted tuner. Thanks for the great wax.
Enjoy some pics from day 2. I will be back to this area over the summer. There are some peaks I want to knock off my hit list.
