The weather seems to be the recurring theme of this week. I camped at the Buckskin Joe trailhead on Kite Lake road. The plan was to grab Bross and both sides of Democrat. The freeze however didn’t happen. It sems the inversion stuck around on this side of the pass over night. YC met me and said that it was clear and cool on the Summit County side of Hoosier so we dealt with it. Let’s go check out the Direct North Gully off Quandary. And away we went. We made decent time up Quandary’s East Ridge. Upon inspection of the North Gully we found a 43° entrance to about a 50° rollover. This was over a ton of sharks. The consequences seemed really high to go for it with almost 19″ of new in the last week. We decided to give this one some more time and get it in safer conditions. So we skied Cristo Couloir. The corn was awesome and the road back to the trailhead was a pretty easy ski too.
